Medigap plans A-G, M and N are required to offer the following basic benefits:
- Coinsurance for hospital days 61-90 ($275/day in 2010) and 60 lifetime reserve days ($550/day in 2010)
- 100% of hospital care beyond the 150 days covered by Medicare, up to a maximum of 365 lifetime days
- Hospice cost share
- 20% coinsurance for the Medicare-approved amount after you meet the $155 annual Part B deductible
- The first 3 pints of blood in each calendar year
Medigap plans K and L also offer these basic benefits, but only cover 50% (K) or 75% (L) of the Part B coinsurance, hospice cost share and the first 3 pints of blood each year.
Plan A offers only the basic benefits listed above. Plans B-N (B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M and N) offer additional benefits. See Standardized Medigap Plans A-N for a list of benefits.
